Symbicort Turbuhaler is a preventer inhaler used to treat asthma (and also COPD). It contains a steroid ( Budesonide) which reduces inflammation in the lungs, and also a long acting bronchodilator (Eformoterol) which helps keep the airways open. It is usually taken regularly, twice a day to maintain ongoing asthma control. It comes in 3 strengths- Symbicort Turbuhaler 100mcg/3mcg,  200mcg/6mcg, and 400mcg/12mcg – the precise dose you need depends on your symptoms and the advice of your doctor.  Depending on your doctor’s instructions, it may also be used to treat sudden attacks of breathlessness or wheezing- though a fast-acting reliever inhaler such as Ventolin may be used instead. It’s important to seek immediate medical attention if you have sudden asthma symptoms that do not improve after using your usual reliever inhaler.  All people with asthma should make an action plan with their doctor to help manage their symptoms correctly.
