Breo Ellipta is a preventer inhaler used to treat asthma (and also COPD). It contains a steroid (Fluticasone) which reduces inflammation in the lungs, and also a long acting bronchodilator  (Vilanterol) which helps keep the airways open. It is usually taken regularly, once a day to maintain ongoing asthma control. It comes in two strengths- Breo Ellipta 100/25 and Breo Ellipta 200/25 – the dose you need depends on your symptoms and the advice of your doctor.  Breo Ellipta is not recommended for treatment of sudden attacks of breathlessness or wheezing- in this situation it is important to use a fast-acting reliever inhaler such as Ventolin, and to seek immediate medical attention if your symptoms do not improve. All people with asthma should make an action plan with their doctor to help manage their symptoms correctly.
