Asmol is a reliever inhaler used to treat the acute symptoms of asthma- such as wheeze, shortness of breath, chest tightness and cough. It contains the active ingredient Salbutamol, which is a bronchodilator, i.e. it helps to open up the airways.  The usual dose is 2 puffs as needed, ideally taken via a spacer device, to ensure it is delivered properly to the lungs. If symptoms are more pronounced, 4 puffs may be taken in succession. If asthma symptoms are severe or do not respond to the usual reliever treatment, immediate medical attention should be sought. All people with asthma should get an asthma action plan from their doctor, to help manage symptoms.
