Common questions about pharmacy absence from work certificates and how they compare with a doctor-issued medical certificate.
Can I get a medical certificate from a pharmacy instead?
Sometimes. Pharmacists at many pharmacies can issue an Absence from Work Certificate for minor illness, in person, for a maximum of 2 days, and these cannot be backdated or used for Centrelink or fitness-for-work purposes. For the full rules, costs and how they compare with a doctor's certificate, see our guide to pharmacy medical certificates.
