How we review our health pages

Health information changes, and bad health information can cause harm. This page explains exactly how content on qoctor.com.au is written, checked, dated and corrected — so you can judge for yourself whether to trust what you read here.

The short version

Health pages on this site are written and reviewed by an AHPRA-registered doctors, showing who reviewed it and when. We refer to Australian clinical guidelines and information where possible, though international guidelines may also be used in some cases, to provide readers with a more complete picture. Content is reviewed on a set cycle every few months but gets reveiwed immediately, if the underlying guidance is known to have changed. So, if we get something wrong, or the information needs refinement- we correct it visibly.

Who writes and reviews our content

Written by clinicians

All our content is written, and then reviewed by Australian medical doctors.

Reviewed by a named doctor

Before publication, every health page is reviewed by an AHPRA-registered doctor from our team, who checks it for clinical accuracy, safe framing, and consistency with current Australian guidance. Their name, credentials and a link to their profile appear on the page. The reviewer takes professional responsibility for the page being accurate at the review date.

Team review culture

Our doctors work closely together; pages covering contested or evolving areas are discussed among the team before the reviewing doctor signs off.

Who our doctors are

Every reviewer is listed on our doctors team page, each with an individual profile listing their qualifications and AHPRA registration number, which you can verify on the AHPRA public register.

The sources we use

Our pages are built from trusted primary Australian sources including:

1. Australian regulators and official bodies: the Medical Board of Australia / AHPRA, the TGA, the Department of Health and Aged Care, Services Australia, and the Fair Work Ombudsman (for content about medical certificates and leave entitlements).
2. Australian professional and patients guidance bodies: the RACGP, the AMA, [Therapeutic Guidelines], The Royal Children’s Hospital, The Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne Sexual Health Clinic and many relevant specialty colleges and societies.
3. Peer-reviewed evidence and internationally recognised guidance, where Australian guidance does not exist on a topic.

We cite sources within the page wherever a claim depends on them. We do not build health pages from other companies’ blogs, content farms, or unattributed AI output.

Dates you can rely on

  • Every key health page displays a “Last medically reviewed” date. That date changes only when a doctor has actually re-reviewed the page — never as a cosmetic refresh.
  • Pages are re-reviewed on a regular cycle- this is quarterly for our core service pages (such as medical certificates) and at least annually for our supporting articles.
  • We also trigger an immediate review whenever the underlying rules change — for example, an update to Medical Board telehealth guidance, Fair Work rules on evidence for leave, or TGA scheduling decisions.
  • A record of each review is kept internally, including what was checked and what changed.

Limitations

Health information is not the same as individual medical advice. Our health information is general in nature. It is written to be accurate, detailed and useful, but it is not the same as a consultation with a doctor, because it cannot account for your individual circumstances. For advice about your own health, speak to a doctor- through Qoctor or your regular GP.

In an emergency, always call 000 or present to your nearest Emergency Department.

Meeting regulatory standards

Healthcare is an area where trust, safety and integrity are of paramount importance:

  • Doctors are duty-bound to abide by their professional obligations, and this extends to the information presented and reviewed by our clinical team on Qoctor website pages.
  • Our information is designed to be factual, evidence-based and patient-centred- not to maximise clicks.
  • All our content is written in alignment with AHPRA and TGA advertising regulations. For instance, publication of individual drug names or claims of specific health outcomes are avoided in line with these rules and regulations.

Flagging Errors or Omissions

If we discover an error , or you point one out , we will review the page promptly and correct it where appropriate.

To report an inaccuracy, you can contact: info@qoctor.com.au or simply use our live chat.

Corrections and error reports are reviewed by our medical director, and what we learn feeds back into how we review future content.
