About genital herpes treatment
Genital herpes episodes are treated with a short course of antiviral tablets. The available antivirals are similarly effective; the main practical difference is the course, ranging from a single day of treatment through to five days, and treatment works best started as early as possible in an episode. Your doctor will discuss which option and course suits you, including options for suppression if you have frequent recurrences.
